Les Lutins

Les Lutins are a Quebec rock band founded in Saint-Hyacinthe (Canada) in 1963, originally comprising André Richard (replaced by Yvan St-Onge in 1966), Normand Brouillard, Serge Lambert, Serge (Alain) Blanchard and (Jean-Paul) Simon Brouillard. As part of a radiothon organized by radio station CHRS in December 1964, the members of the group, then aged 11 and 12, had the chance to sing with established groups such as the Artistocrats and the Mersey's. In the summer of 1965, the Lutins won a 45 rpm recording at a band contest held in Valleyfield (Canada), in which 36 musical groups from Quebec took part. Unfortunately, this recording, featuring the songs " Trop jeune pour aimer " and " Petite fille ", met with little success. Two years later, in 1967, the band's two singles, " Elle n'a rien compris " and " Je cherche ", hit the Quebec charts. In early November, the band released their eponymous debut album. In early 1968, Les Lutins win the Méritas trophy for most popular group of the year at the Gala des artistes. The same year, the song " Monsieur le robot ", composed by Jacques Michel, and the title " Roquet belle oreille ", inspired by a cartoon show, were both successful on Quebec radio. The band takes part in the 1968 edition of the Musicorama tour, with Dany Aubé, Karo, les Jades, les Hou-lops, Patrick Zabé, Renée Martin and Stéphane. At the end of the year, Simon Brouillard embarks on a solo career, and the group changes its name to Les Luths. The group released two singles in 1969, then went their separate ways.
