Graziella De Michele

Singer Graziella de Michèle scored a hit in 1986 with the song "Le Pull-Over blanc". Born in Lyon on December 28, 1956 into a family of Italian origin, she preferred singing to her studies as a psychiatric nurse and, after practicing this profession in Meaux in the Seine-et-Marne region, moved to Paris where she offered her compositions. Signed by the Virgin label, she took part in the compilation Les Enfants du Velvet, a tribute to The Velvet Underground, with her cover of "Sweet Jane", then recorded her first single, including the English-language track "Let's Fall in Love" (1985). A pop-rock track accompanied by an accordion, her next album "Le Pull-Over blanc" attracted a lot of attention, reaching number 36 in the Top 50 in April 1987, before peaking at number 3 two months later. This success launched Graziella de Michèle's career, which continued with three more songs from her debut album Le Clown d'Alicante (1989), featuring videos by Cyril Collard. While "Le Pull-Over blanc" was covered by Arno in 1992, her creator worked on her second album Les Terres Mouillées (1993). Together with Axelle Renoir, she wrote "Immobiles " for the soundtrack to Philippe Delettrez's film L'Echappée belle (1996), then recorded a series of covers of French songs for Éditions Atlas compilations. In 2001, she wrote the lyrics to "Les Petites cicatrices " for Liane Foly, and in 2010, she collaborated with Emmanuel Tugny.
