Les Valentins

French pop-rock band Les Valentins was originally a trio called Les Max Valentin with Gérald de Palmas, before continuing as a duo. Made up of Édith Fambuena (bass, guitar), Jean-Louis Piérot (keyboards) and Gérald Gardrinier dit De Palmas (vocals, bass), the trio formed in Aix-en-Provence in 1985 moved to Paris, where they met Étienne Daho, who signed them to his Cupecoy Records label to record the hit singles "Les Maux dits " (1987) and "Printemps parapluie " (1989). Without De Palmas, the duo renamed Les Valentins recorded the album Café des 2 Mondes (1990), produced by Daho, whom they accompanied on the tour that followed the release of Paris Ailleurs (1991), co-produced by Édith Fambuena. Parallel to their activities as composers and producers for Daniel Darc, Bill Pritchard, Nicola Sirkis, Brigitte Fontaine and Alain Bashung on Fantaisie Militaire (1998), the two musicians signed to the Barclay label to produce the albums Les Valentins (1993), on which Jacno and Christine Lidon took part, Ego Ego (1997) and Juke Box (2001), before going their separate ways. Nevertheless, the duo continue to work under the Les Valentins name with other artists such as Mercedes Audras, Doriand, Joseph Racaille, Tété, Miossec and Zazie. Although they didn't achieve recognition through a hit single, Les Valentins nonetheless seduced the French rock public and proved their studio skills to their peers.
