Ensemble Matheus
Founded by violinist and conductor Jean-Christophe Spinosi in 1991, the Quatuor Matheus became the Ensemble Matheus with the addition of new members and the ambition of founding a symphony orchestra. After its debut at Le Quartz in Brest, the orchestra moved to the Théâtre du Châtelet in 2005, where it performs baroque, classical, romantic and modern works. At the same time, Ensemble Matheus has enriched its discography with recordings of Vivaldi(Orlando Furioso in 2004, Griselda in 2006 and Stabat Mater in 2008), Rossini and Handel(Messiah in 2010). In the summer of 2012, the ensemble experienced a strange consecration at the Vieilles Charrues rock festival in Carhaix.
