Tony Chasseur

Born on December 3, 1962 in Fort-de-France, Martinique, French singer Tony Chasseur discovered his predispositions for music at an early age, frequenting the many piano bars on his island, where he met many musicians and, above all, gained experience. In 1986, at the age of 24, he decided to move to mainland France, in particular Paris, where he intended to study musicology. However, he was soon caught up in the whirlwind of the live scene when guitarist Simon Jurad invited him on a tour of France, which included a stop at the Olympia. After contributing to Frédéric Caracas's album Rendez-Vous , he decided to go solo, signing his first album Dansé Soleil in 1987, before joining the group Sakiyo, then Malavoi in 1988, where he remained lead singer until 1990. His second solo album, Sable Mouillé , was not released until 1993, followed by Lanmou é Lanmityé in 1995 and mélodies Créoles in 1998. In 2001, he released one of the best-known albums in his repertoire, Diamant des Îles , before delivering Musi-Qualité five years later, which stood out thanks to the track "Yapadsousi". In 2015, he decided to mark the 30th anniversary of his career with the publication of the Lakou Lanmou box set, a live version of which will be released the following year.
