The Twigs
Musically self-taught twin sisters Linda and Laura Good are the Twigs, an indie pop duo raised on '70s power pop, soft rock, and classic soul, just to mention a few of their shared loves and influences. It wasn't until Linda and Laura were continents away until they started writing music together -- while Linda was in Wales studying music, she began swapping tapes back and fourth with her sister, who was studying at Columbia. They set up their own label, Whirl-I-Gig, to release their 1996 debut, Bring Me the Head of Eternity. After adding bassist Joe Yost and drummer Gerald Dowd (Robbie Fulks) to the lineup, they released 2001's The Universe Tonight. The Goods are self-taught musicians -- Linda sings and plays guitar, violin, piano; Laura sings and plays guitar and cello.
