The Domino State
Facing the same problem as Unbelievable Truth, whose frontman, Andy Yorke, was the brother of Radiohead's Thom, the Domino State are an English indie band whose own musical output has been overshadowed by their family connection with one of the world's biggest bands. Guitarists Tim Buckland, sibling of Coldplay's Jonny, and Jim Machin, lead vocalist Matt Forder, bassist Wil Padley, and drummer Rich Simic formed from the remnants of At the Lake in London in 2007. Influenced by the '90s shoegaze of My Bloody Valentine and Ride, and the post-punk new wave of the Chameleons and the Sounds, they released two singles, "What's the Question?" and "Firefly," through indie label Club AC30 before signing to Exhibition Records in 2009. After working on material with producer Joe Adams (Depeche Mode), they supported Coldplay, M83, and Long-View on their U.K. tours, performed at Glastonbury and Summer Sundae Weekend, and released their debut album, Uneasy Lies the Crown, in 2010.
