Pedro Soler

Born in Narbonne in 1938, Pedro Soler is one of the masters of flamenco guitar. In the course of a long career that began in the 1950s, this Spanish guitarist, influenced by the style of Ramon Montoya and the poetry of Garcia Lorca, has crossed paths with many musicians: Jacinto Almadèn, Pericon de Cadiz, Enrique Morentes, Rafael Romero, Atahualpa Yupanqui and singers Maria Bethânia and Maria Casarès. A fan of musical and literary crossovers, he has collaborated on several occasions with Basque singer Beñat Achiary, notably on the album Lili Purprea (1991) with Bernard Lubat and Dominique Regef, then on Près du Coeur Sauvage (2000). Other encounters enriched a repertoire open to the world, with Renaud Garcia-Fons(Suite Andalouse, 1994), Ravi Prasad (1998) then Inès Bacàn, Beñat Achiary, Majid Bekkas and Ramon Lopez(La Cité Invisible, 2003). In 2011, Pedro Soler and his son Gaspar Claus produced the album Barlande à New York.
