Octex
Jernej Marusic produces deep, dark, and dubby minimal techno as Octex, an acronym for "organic crackle and tone experiments." The Ljubljana, Slovenia, resident began making music in his late teens, first on his PC and later with the aid of analog synthesizers. At age 23, he made his full-length album debut as Octex with Idei Lahesna, which the Slovenian techno label Tehnika released in late 2002. Rooted in the minimal dub-techno-style of renowned Berlin labels like Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, Marusic's productions emphasize deepness and darkness; pummeling soundscapes submersed in shivering reverb effects and droning sub-bass frequencies.
