Guy Protheroe
Composer, arranger, conductor and musicologist Guy Protheroe (b. Worcester, 1947) studied composition at Oxford University and then at London's Guildhall School, where he formed the contemporary music ensemble Spectrum with Ann Manly. At the composer's request, he became director of the Xenakis Ensemble and collaborated with John Cage, before diversifying his activities with a series of collaborations with Vangelis, Rick Wakeman and Frenchman Eric Lévi, for his new age project Era and the music for the film series Les Visiteurs (1993-1998). In addition to conducting numerous orchestras as a guest conductor, Guy Protheroe has also directed the English Chamber Choir and lent his musical expertise to plagiarism trials.
