Giovanni Ceccarelli

Born in Fabriano (Italy) in 2007, pianist and composer Giovanni Ceccarelli studied classical music at the conservatory from the age of seven, before discovering jazz, which became his preferred genre. In addition to numerous recording sessions with musicians such as Tiziana Ghiglioni, Nancy King, Sandra Cartolari, Enrico Bracco, Enrico Ghelardi, Ada Montellanico and Marcello Sebastiani, he recorded his debut album The Street Dancer (1998) as a duo with American pianist Eddie Wied for Philology Records. After touring with saxophonist Lee Konitz's quartet, the pianist joined forces with the Toni Germani Trio for the album Blues, Ballate, Canzoni (2005), followed by albums by Fabrizio Cecca and Piero Delle Monarche. In duet with saxophonist Massimo Urbani on The Nights of the Beuscher, he composed, arranged and produced singer Fabrizia Barresi's album Feedin' Inner Urgesco (2009), before joining the InventaRio project with Ferruccio Spinetti, Francesco Petreni and Brazilian performers Ivan Lins, Marisa Monte and Dadi for the album of the same name. 2010 saw the release of his new album as leader Daydreamin' (Magnatune), followed a year later by Météores, a trio with Ferruccio Spinetti and Francesco Petreni. The following years saw Giovanni Ceccarelli record as a duo with bandoneonist Daniele Di Bonaventura for the albums Mare Calmo (2015) and Eu Tu Amo (The Music of Tom Jobim) (2018), then with saxophonist Marcello Allulli for Canto (2019). In 2020, Giovanni Ceccarelli reunites with Ferruccio Spinetti for the duo tribute to Ennio Morricone, More Morricone.
