Ablaye Cissoko
Senegalese kora player Ablaye Cissoko stands at the confluence of African music and jazz. After his debut with the Saint-Louis Jazz Orchestra, Ablaye Cissoko released his first album Diam in 2003, and Le Griot Rouge in 2005 established his reputation abroad. Ablaye Cissoko then embarked on collaborations with German trumpeter Volker Goetze(Sira in 2009) and Moroccan multi-instrumentalist Majid Bekkas(Mabrouk in 2011). The duo of Volker Goetze and Ablaye Cissoko meet again in 2012 for a new cross-fertilization on Amanké Dionti. Once again on his own for Mes Racines in 2013, Ablaye Cissoko reunited with his German accomplice for Djaliya in 2014.
