Soom T
A Scot of Hindu descent, Soom T draws on her origins to enrich her musical baggage. Possessing a distinctive, rapid flow, the young woman stands out for a raggamuffin that draws on music from the Indian subcontinent as well as more modern forms such as Asian Underground and drum & bass. The singer appeared in 2012 with the single "We Are the Glasgow Girls", with its ostensibly feminist message. Known in the UK for her live performances, in 2015 she collaborated with French producer Tom Fire. The result is a softer reggae fusion track than her previous productions. The album Free As a Bird, released in November 2015, marks her first foray into the French charts. The single "Broken Robots" from the album garnered rave reviews around the world, appearing as one of the most searched-for tracks on the Shazam app.
