Bad Tuner
bad tuner, whose real name is Jozef Sergei Dimitrov, was born in the early 1990s in Yugoslavia. After being orphaned at a young age, he relocated to Moscow, Russia with his adoptive parents, apprenticing at a radio repair shop where his fascination with AM and FM radio transmission prompted him to create his initial recordings at just 16. Renouncing his Russian citizenship in 2016, Dimitrov relocated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York, where he studied acoustic theory and time harmonic equations under the guidance of the renowned audio scientist, Agathe Alt. His career took off in 2018 when he began producing beats in his bedroom and sharing them online, catching the attention of Los Angeles producer and DJ TOKiMONSTA, who released several tracks through her Young Art Sounds record label and offered him a slot in her 2019 tour. Since then, he has unveiled a series of singles, including "Weather Report" (2020) and "Coast" (2020), and has headlined sold-out shows in New York City, sharing the stage with artists such as A-Trak, Noaj Thing, and Catching Flies, among others. Continuing to make waves in the music industry, in 2021, bad tuner released the UK-house inspired tracks "Back To Me" and "Relationship Is" as part of the self-care EP. He followed this with second EP Back To My <3, which included electronica-infused single "loverboi" as well as the euphoric and powerful "Oxygen." Continuing to garner recognition in the electronic music scene, bad tuner’s unique DIY progressive sound has quickly gained considerable traction on taste-making playlists across streaming platforms, seeing him return to the stage to support Los-Angeles-based artist Amtrac in November 2023, coinciding with the release of new singles "Don't Say" and "Could I".
