Arthur Grumiaux & Clara Haskil
The "Grande Dame de la Musique", Clara Haskil, was a virtuoso Romanian pianist born in 1895. Fragile and shy, Clara Haskil was able to reach an audience thanks to numerous patrons and distinguished supporters such as Gabriel Fauré and George Enesco. She collaborated with Herbert von Karajan's Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and, above all, recorded the famous sonatas for piano and violin by Mozart and Beethoven with Arthur Grumiaux. Her Scarlatti sonatas remain a recording monument. She died in 1960 after a career interrupted by war and illness.
