Winston McAnuff
Winston McAnuff came very close to being unjustly forgotten. He began his career in Jamaica with his childhood friend Earl Sixteen. Despite recording What a Man a Deal With in 1978, his career didn't take off. Reduced to eking out a living, he was discovered by the French label Makasound. What a Man a Deal With, reissued in 2004, attracted the attention of reggae aficionados. An open-minded artist, he recorded A Drop in 2005, an original and successful fusion of electro and roots reggae. In 2007, Paris Rockin saw him triumph at numerous festivals with the group Java. Nostradamus in 2008 marked a return to roots reggae, of which he is one of today's masters. In 2013, A New Day, a collaboration with Fixi, was one of the best-selling reggae albums of the year in France.
