Pauliina Fred
Pauliina Fred is a specialist in historic flutes, ranging from the Renaissance recorder to the C flute. She was raised in Kirkkonummi, Finland, and attended the Helsinki Sibelius Academy, where she studied flute with Jari Puhakka, Mikael Helasvuo, and Rabbe Forsman. She also received Master's degrees from the Utrecht Conservatory and the Amsterdam Conservatory, with the guidance of Wilbert Hazelzet, Jed Wentz, and Paul Leenhouts. Fred gave her first concert in 2004 in Helsinki. She is a member of the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, the Oslo Baroque Orchestra, the Bravada Recorder Quartet, the Zetes Woodwind Quintet, Opus X Ensemble, the Sixth Floor Orchestra, and the SAMA Folk Baroque Ensemble. She is an authority on French Baroque music, and she regularly performs contemporary Finnish music, including works by Kirmo Lintinen and Lotta Wennäkoski. She has performed across Europe and in the United States and Japan, and has recorded the flute sonatas of Franz Xaver Richter and Johann Sebastian Bach for Naxos.
