Noëmi Waysfeld & Blik
A theater actress with a passion for Yiddish culture, Noëmi Waysfeld founded the group Blik - "Regard" in Yiddish - in 2008 to rescue from oblivion and regenerate the traditional songs of Eastern European communities. Noëmi Waysfeld & Blik also introduce audiences to the "gulag blues" once smuggled out of the USSR by Dina Vierny. Initially conducted on stage, this musical research led in 2012 to the release of the album Kalyma. The presence on this first album of American clarinettist David Krakauer, one of the great architects of the klezmer revival, augurs well for its quality and originality.
