Guy Vadeleux
This hardworking Martiniquan artist, recording since the cadence days, got his start as a bassist for Pierre Rassin's authentic biguine band, where he was properly schooled in all the musical traditions of the Antilles. It's for this reason that Vadeleux's albums of the zouk era are unusual and popular, containing familiar references to biguine, cadence, and Creole mazurka, while never failing to hit the zouk bull's-eye. Vadeleux can be seen most nights of the week playing solo and group gigs in tourist spots, although those hoping to hear a sound similar to his records will be disappointed.
