Amel Brahim-Djelloul
A soprano singer born in 1975, Amel Brahim-Djelloul learned to sing in her hometown of Algiers before passing her exam at the Paris Conservatoire in 2003. Since then, Amel Brahim-Djelloul, nominated at the 2007 Victoires de la musique classique, has established herself as one of opera's revelations, with a wide repertoire spanning the Baroque period (Lully, Purcell) and later eras (Mozart, Puccini, Verdi). Amel Brahim-Djelloul has also delved into the roots of Arabo-Andalusian music with her albums Les 1001 Nuits (2007) and Amel Chante la Méditerranée (2009).
