Alain Ramanisum

Born in 1976, Alain Ramanisum is a Mauritian sega singer who began his musical career at the age of 14. Initially a drummer, he soon learned the rudiments of guitar and piano, and was given his first synthesizer by his father. He then became pianist for the group Zenfan Cassis, an experience he continued for five years while completing his studies. When the group recorded its first album, it changed its name to Cassiya, and Alain Ramanisum became a key member, writing many of the songs and arranging the arrangements. He then lent his talents to other singers from Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, including Missty, Sega'el, Joe Vany, Tian, Jean Claude Gaspard and Marcelino, before recording his first solo album SegaSega. He went on to enjoy a highly successful solo career, building up a dense discography over the years with albums such as Bat'Sega, Lévé Dansé, Nissa la Monté, La Réunion Lé La, Bébèt Séga and Dansé. One of his biggest hits is probably "Li Tourner", which also attracted the attention of DJ Assad and Willy William, who released a remix of the hit in 2013 with Alain Ramanisum.
