If you weren’t able to attend Qobuz’s showcase at SXSW, you can now experience these magical performances from the comfort of your own home, in 24-bit Hi-Res!

Hosted at East Austin’s KMFA Studios, Qobuz’s 2023 SXSW Showcase (as raved about in Rolling Stone) featured some of today’s best up-and-coming artists from a variety of independent labels.

Carefully recorded live to 24-bit/96 kHz digital and mastered by Grammy-nominated, NYC-based engineer Sarah Register, each artist’s unique EP, of which there are seven, give you a true “there in the room” sound with absolutely nothing compromised or sacrificed in terms of quality, in true Qobuz fashion.

The first three EPs, released on the 12th of December 2023 feature performances from British R&B singer Yazmin Lacey, Panama-born drummer and DJ Daniel Villarreal, and LA-based musician and visual artist Shana Cleveland.

Released today on the 17th of January 2024, we now have four more artists joining Qobuz’s inaugural batch of exclusive Hi-Res performances: left-of-centre pop from Brooklyn-based Barrie; the newly-formed all-star outfit featuring Beto Martínez, Alex Chavez, Victor “El Guámbito” Cruz, and John Speice, Caramelo Haze; London-based jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist DoomCannon; and acclaimed NY-based indie rock artist Miss Grit (Margaret Sohn).

Both Miss Grit and Yazmin Lacey’s debut albums were awarded the coveted Qobuzissime award in 2023, as selected by our team of international music experts. With the 2024 edition of SXSW fast approaching, be sure to keep an eye out for all Qobuz activities.

Sujan Hong, Qobuz USA’s Head of Music Content, said “I’m thrilled to experience these terrific performances again and to be able to share them with the Qobuz community.”
