The ancient melodies and rhythms of Celtic music are played here using the music's likely original instrumentation. With creativity and spark, the group combines tradition with contemporary elements, creating a nonpareil fusion. Green Fields will appeal to those who love the sounds of classical/traditional Celtic music as well as those who are more attuned to new age; the disc does not sacrifice the integrity that the best of musicians in both camps hold. Carrying its vision, the group has direction and a flowing force; soft though it may be at times, the music still moves and gathers energy. "The Knocknaboul" starts in a dreamy state and slowly wends its course, all the time drawing more direction and force until it reaches a full-blown and dynamic conclusion. The group takes full advantage of the fact that all the players are approaching frontiers in their musical careers. No single performer dominates, and all combine to form a special blend. This is an exceptional group that has raised a standard through both sheer technical expertise and the love they share for Celtic music, which together bring spontaneous creativity and music that is quite special.
